GOLF COURSES

Vistabella Golf is on our doorstep! The area is ideal for golfers as you can expect sunny blue skies and temperatures on average 10°C (18°F) above the UK’s!  Even in winter on average only 5 days /month have any rainfall!

Other Golf Courses

There are several other excellent golf courses close by, 5 within a 20 minute drive. The standard of these courses is proven by frequent visits of The King of Spain. All courses are challenging in their own way, some are park like, whilst others have plenty of hazards and those devilish gorges that are typical of golf courses in Spain. They are all of championship length (18 holes), and are less crowded than the ones at Costa del Sol.

1  Real de Faula

18 holes, 6626 m, par 72

Designer Jack Nicklaus, opened 2006

Real club de Faula offers two 18-hole Jack Nicklaus designed golf courses The North(Championship) course, whose features are typical of Nicklaus designs, is an American style course with broad fairways, and exquisitely moulded greens. The South (Executive) course is Par 62 and 3858 metres.

2  Bonalba

18 holes, 6337m, Par 72

Designer Ramon Espinosa, opened 1995

Bonalba golf course is laid out with a variety of trees, lakes and a large number of bunkers and enormous greens distributed over the course, making it an interesting and attractive challenge for players of all kinds.

The course has some stunning scenery. You will encounter a variety of trees, lakes and bunkers strategically placed, and together with the large fast greens, this course is an attractive challenge for players of all handicaps.

3  Alicante Golf

18 holes, 6236m, Par 72

Designer Severiano Ballesteros, opened 1998

Alicante golf is a city course located next to the beach. It is spacious but the course increases in difficulty as it goes on. Greens are ample and straightforward, defended by strategically located bunkers.

There are 6 par 5s, par 4s and par 3s, on this Ballesteros designed course, The ample, flat fairways are interspersed with water hazards and out of bounds, making this a good holiday golfing choice. Buggy recommended.

4  El Plantio, nr Alicante

18 holes, 6,302 metres, Par 72

Designer Manuel Ferri Sanchez, opened 2000

The El Plantio Golf Club has two golf courses, the first is the excellent 18 holes, and the second is a very pretty little 9-hole course. Abundant vegetation is a major feature of this well-designed golf course where the outstanding quality of the greens and fairways are perfectly noticeable. The rounds are well adapted to player's possibilities and all levels are catered for, making El Plantio the ideal destination for the whole family.

The fairways are broad and comfortable. The length of El Plantio Golf Course requires players to use their complete range of strokes and successfully combine both strength and precision. The breadth of the fairways favours strength, but the difficulties closer to the flag oblige players to use good strategic and control skills.

5  Alenda Golf

18 holes 6360m Par 72.

Designer Roland Favrat, opened 1999

This is an entertaining course for any level, requiring skill and precision in both long drives and putts The course has great views across the mountains and the Mediterranean. The tee shots require good positioning, and the elevated greens offer a challenge to any standard of golfer.

6  La Finca

18 hole 6394 m par 72

Designed by Seve Ballesteros, opened 2002

La Finca is only 10 minutes away. It is a golfing oasis situated at the foot of Mount Escotera. It is set alone in its own valley with breathtaking views. This long challenging course with its magnificient greens and water features will make you want to return again and again. It has views to delight the nature lovers thanks to the trees, lakes and birds of different species that have made this wonderful refuge their natural habitat

7  La Marquesa Golf & Country Club

18 hole, Par 72, 5840 metres

Designed by Justo Quesada Samper, opened 1989

This comparatively short course is located in a flat valley in between the mountains, and sheltered by its own unique microclimate. It is located in a flat valley between mountains, and the layout of the round alternates between long holes and short ones. It is not excessively difficult and so players of all levels will enjoy it.

8  Campoamor

18 holes 6203 metres par 72

Designer Carmelo Gracias Caselles, opened 1989

Campoamor is one of the most panoramic of the courses in the region. The expansive fairways, excellent greens and the lakes deceive the player somewhat, making this is a long and testing course with six "dog legs" to keep you on your toes. Campoamor has a new majestic clubhouse and restaurant and offers the usual services such as club and trolley hire and practice areas.

9  Villa Martin

18 holes, 6132 m, par 72

Designer Paul Putnam, opened 1972

At twenty five years this is the oldest of the four golf courses and is really breathtaking in its beauty. Playing over undulating fairways to well protected greens, no two holes are alike on this superb course. A ravine comes into play on the inward part of the course and the par 5 14th and the par 3 17th are spectacular holes on a course that is always in excellent condition.

10  Las Ramblas

18 holes 5914m par 72

Designer Jose Gancedo, opened 1991

This course offers, as the name suggests, a wonderful rambling course through valleys and over rugged terrain with the occasional water hazard, an excellent challenge! Maybe not for the fainthearted!

11  Altorreal

18 holes, 6239m par 72

Designer Dave Thomas, opened 1994

Altorreal is a semi-private 18 hole championship course which opened in 1994. Altorreal has a combination of hilly and flat holes and some superb mountain scenery. Designed by Dave Thomas, the course has a great variety of trees including olives, carobs and pines.

12  Hacienda

18 holes , 7400 m Par 72

Designer Dave Thomas, opened 2004

Considered the longest layout in Spain, Hacienda del Alamo’s 7,400-yard course boasts eight lakes and 84 bunkers and will provide a challenge for all standards of golfers. The golf course is wide, with long holes, spacious, and with many lakes. It is very soft, because it is built on natural terrain. At the same time, it has some very well-planned obstacles. It takes five hours to play, and there are tee-offs every ten minutes, even on very busy days.

13  Mosa Trayectum

3 x 9holes, par 72

Designers Brian Connelly and Peter Hoogcarspel,opened 2005

The Mosa Trajectum golf course runs through a resort, creating a spectacular and challenging landscape consisting of varied plants and trees, desert cacti, open rock-faces and a multitude of water features.

With 27 championship holes you can not only play one but 3 separate 18 hole, par 72 courses. Mosa Trajectum Golf is divided up into 3 well-defined 9-hole courses, creating a beautiful landscape of Desert and Paradise holes. Each 9-hole course is different from the other two and offers its own particular challenge.

The Golf Club (about 45 minutes away) opened in 1971. The North and South Courses at La Manga are located in a valley surrounded by mountains and with stunning views of the Mar Menor. Palm trees abound in these two courses, while the West course, sited in a mountain was carved out of a pine forest.

Vistabella Golf

18* holes, 6193m off the white tees & 5844m off the visitors yellow tees, par 73

Designed by former Ryder Cup player Manuel Pinero, opened September 2009

Vistabella Golf is just 200m from our apartment & is set in beautiful and natural surroundings & utilises the natural terrain with subtle dog legs and changes in elevation and with large undulating greens that will put the utmost strain on the putter if you leave the ball on the wrong part of the green.

*The golf course currently consists of only 11 holes due a complication over planning approval & is due for completion early 2011. 18 holes are played by replaying some of the holes from different tees.
